I thought i would start this thread to show scans of interesting slides i have purchased at auctions, being here in the UK as well as being a full time carer for my wife who cannot travel very far even by car, i will never be able to railfan in person, so this is the next best thing and i have found some gems

i will start of this thread with a scan of a WM BL2, photo was shot at Haggerstown, Maryland in October 1966 by Richard O Adams

here we have a Fairbanks Morse PRR FM H10-44 #8228, the original slide had no info on date or the location (although could be Woodville, Pennysylvania) the photographer's name was also not on the slide.

There are some beauties there, Bernard! Thank you for sharing. I'm enjoying them.

I did get to see on of those Western Maryland BL2's but only after it was in the museum in Baltimore.

I wish you the best with your wife. I know it can be intense. You are a good man.

Christopher

Bernard,

I've been in the cab of that one, back in 1979, though it had been renumbered to 7182 if I remember right. It was just sitting outside the Haggerstown yard office idling, so no movement. The oddity I had not been expecting was that the cab effectively finished immediately behind the side access doors, so the side windows behind the doors were part of the engine room, so looking back from the cab you were looking through two windows to see the outside world and had a clear view of the prime mover and generator.

Today's slide is a Conrail GP8 on a cab hop at Akron, Ohio on 9th September 1984 by George Cheatwood. This engine was originally NYC GP7 #5686 before being rebuilt as a GP8.
