Hi everyone,

Still trying to convert the PT5 route. Now also used the dynatracks conversion tool, but still I got empty tracksections (probably where first the defaults one were). Still wondering what the trick is to make a succesfull conversion. Anyone who has maybe some sort of manual for PT routes?

Regards, Wouter

Hi Wouter,

There's a plan-B for DBtracks conversion. I left the dynamic tracks in the route, but I used the DBTRACKS track textures for replacing the default one.

That caused a bearable result for me. The track pieces converted to DBT, and the dynamics looks like DBT (from a distance). In addition, the very cool super-elevation feature is still functioning.

That's an example. Further changes needed around the railtops, because they're too thick at the moment... but superelevation works.

Sorry for my late reply :blush2: I've managed to rebuilt all Protrain routes with DBtracks and dynatrax. Only PT 9 and 10 seems to have some issues. When I've time I'll look further into this issue :)
Thanks anyway

Greetings, Wouter

Hello,

Finally have some time to look further into the PT9 problem. When building the Dynatracks I get the following error:

Sorry for the dutch language, if any translation needed please let me know :)

Does anyone knows how to fix this? The dynatrax itself are build but the world files aren't edited with the dynatrax entries. I think it is some error in the number of shapes that has to be rebuild. The value is 1830 shapes whilst the error says 1831.

Hope someone can help me out :)

Greetings, Wouter

Hi everyone,

At last weekend I tried to convert the Whitefish 10 route to DBtracks (US3 style). I succeeded, but now I have to elevate the tracks because they sank underground at some locations (e.g. berms).

On the DBtracks website there are 2 different instructions to do that: create a .bat file or do it with Route Riter. I tried both way, but I got errors.

1) Route Riter sent me an "Error 75" message. In the RR Howto I found that Error75 means read-only files, but my .w files aren't read-only.
2) With the .bat file I received a conversion error, I guess it's because of a track database error which also showed up in this .bat file.

I tried the .bat file with another route and it worked.
Anyone has suggestions? Maybe I can fix the tdb error with RR?
Thanks: Peter

The DB/US Tracks shapes have a higher vertical footprint. This means that, for the top of the rails to stay at the same place, the ties and ballast are pushed slightly further down, into the ground. The distance is 0.2m if I remember correctly. This is necessary because the proper height of the rails is more than the Default/X-Tracks shapes allow for.

The result is your route will often have track in a less-than-ideal place, as you've noticed. In general there are two ways to solve this: Move all of the terrain down the correct amount (doesn't touch other scenery—including berms), or raise the track and TDB up the correct amount. Doing these things means that it's not just world files that are touched. Make sure that all of the route's files are not read only. Error 75 can also be caused by other things, such as not having write permissions on files. If you have MSTS/your route installed into the Program Files/Program Files (x86) folders and you're using Vista+, you need to make sure that elevated permissions are provided to Route Riter and/or TSUtils. Start Route Riter with Administrative privileges if you are not already.
