Cape Cod - The Bay Colony Route blank forest blocks in OR - okay in MSTS Rate Topic: -----

This may have been reported, however, I did a simple search and did not find anything.

In the Cape Cod - The Bay Colony Route ( CCHYBB3.act ) in Buzzards Bay large amounts of forest blocks are rendered as grey (see illus.) MSTS is rendering those blocks correctly as trees.

OR settings are the same as I have been using for months with all other routes and many different testing versions and also the stable release.

Getting the normal amount of shape warnings (when box is checked) that sometimes appear with some freeware routes, [ie. lots of UV index warnings] shape warnings for rolling stock, etc but nothing I can find that points to the forest blocks. Log attached. Any opinions?

I did some more tinkering around... (good at that) and loaded the route in explore starting at Hyannis, same consist, same version of OR and NOW the forest blocks render just fine - exactly the same as in MSTS (well, honestly, better).

Now how could an activity influence the rendering of forests? Season textures?? The activity is in the spring, while explore was in summer and a small bulb went on in my head...(very small -'bout 2 1/2 watt) - no spring textures for those particular forest blocks. Sure enough, opened explore in the spring and the forest blocks were greyed out.

Big false alarm...but a learning experience...changed the activity to summer.

EDIT - Everything is corrected....I looked in the route folder and found a file named... "forests.dat" [see below] - except some of the texture files listed were not included with the route, and most were not in the Textures\Spring folder. So I went searching and found them all in other routes, looking at the ace file to make sure I was not loading some tropical tree into Cape Cod. I made sure all the texture files found in "forests.dat" were also in the Textures/Spring Folder. I changed the activity season back to spring and all the greyed out forest blocks have disappeared, now replaced by healthy looking trees. Not too bad for a 2 1/2 watt bulb!
