Can someone please explain the following four lines from a "OpenRailsLog.txt" file:

Quote

Information: Platform split by junction at OldCoalBunker

Information: Platform split by junction at GasworksLiquorTank

Information: Platform split by junction at SawmillHeadshunt

Information: Platform split by junction at RobinHoodQuarry

The four items are defined as a "SidingItem", not a "PlatformItem" and I assume can have junctions within them.

Hi,
I can understand that a siding cannot have a junction node between its start and end positions, but the same surely doesn't apply to platforms. There are many instances, in real life as well as MSTS, where there are crossovers part-way along a platform. If these are being reported as errors by Open Rails, then I would consider it to be a bug.

I apologise if I have misunderstood Jeffrey's statement!

Cheers,
Ged

A platform which is split by a cross-over must be defined as two separate platforms.
There is a choice to either allocate these to the same station, or to two different stations so it can be defined at which part of the platform the train should stop.

If OR finds a platform which is split by a switch, it will use the largets section of track either side of that switch as actual platform, and discard the other part. So, having a platform sectioned by a cross-over means that only half of the platform is actually a platform, and trains may miss that stop if their path takes it through the discarder part only.

Rob Roeterdink
