I too am learning things by reading the manual. So I see that, differently from MSTS, Open Rails does not support the AWS monitor.
Is there a particular reason for that? Wouldn't it be better if this function was added? How does this function work in MSTS (MSTSbin)?

I am going to guess that no one thought of adding it yet. OR has a lot going for it, but I am sure there are more MSTS abilities that can be added to OR.

Actually I thought of adding that when I enhanced the TCS capabilities of OR about a year ago, but I couldn't find any documentation on how it works in MSTS. Actually I found only references mentioning that that function doesn't work in MSTS, so I gave it up. Anyway, if MSTS implements it incorrectly, then it would be a waste of time reimplementing it. And by the way I doubt it works correctly in MSTS, since it is impossible to handle balises well in MSTS route structure, there is no way to add a balise object, as Rob described some time ago. And AWS solely relies on them.

IIRC, there was once talk that MSTS did not use AWS monitor either?
But then, that must have been some time ago already that I read this, and it might also have read "doesn´t simulate it properly"?
:) for being a little :offtopic: , just want to know this ;)

I hope ORTS really catches up to MSTS an add all the monitor parameters so it can feel for some units equipped in eng file like they are PTC etc.
