File Name: 2' Gauge Baldwin 0-4-2T
File Submitter: wellsburg
File Submitted: 24 Feb 2015
File Category: NG Steam Locos

HISTORY:

Three 2' gauge Baldwin 0-4-2T locomotives served out long careers at the Fairymead Sugar plantation in Queensland Australia.
No.1 was built in 1889, No. 2 was built in 1907 and N0.3 was built in 1925 Nos. 2 & 3 were scrapped in 1957. No. 1 was rebuilt
and still runs today at the Lake Macquarie Light Railway at Toronto, north of Sydney Australia.
No. 1 can be viewed in action at www.youtube.com/watch?v=rktvK9E2eys .

MODEL:

No.2 was created with 3DCrafter 9.3 .

Drawings used were from the "Narrow Gauge and Short Line Gazette" July/August 2014 by David Fletcher. These drawings depict No.1
as it now exists in green / gold coloration. This model is not meant to be a Fairymead exact replica but rather a generic 0-4-2T.
Therefore, No.2 is simple black. Engine numbers can be changed but overall multi-coloring changes probably will not work because
of texturing mapping.

The prototype locos, while in Fairymead service, were wood burners but No.1 now is a coal burner with a Radley & Hunter stack meant
for wood firing. So, No. 2 became a coal burner with a wood firing stack just because it looks good.

This is a tiny engine that runs on 2' gauge, such as the Monson. There is no air. Only brakes are mechanical on the rear drivers.
Pay attention to station approaches. With attentive braking, she will ease into a station with one coach in tow.
No. 2 only holds 500 lbs. of coal, so watch the coal supply.

Loco runs fine in MSTS and ORTS. Known ORTS parameters are incorporated into the engine file.

Sandy River Tom for an excellent custom crew set.
