Hi,
I have had a long term problem with the Russian SO17 Steam locos in OR.
They take off like a rocket.
With OR X 2618 they just go like buggery.
With OR X 2865 they suffer massive wheel slip and there is a strobe like affect covering the whole screen.
At first I thought my video card had blown up.
Then the sim freezes.

Here are urls where these locos and the "common" alias folders for sound-cabviews can be downloaded from http://zaborin.ru/.

http://disk.zaborin.ru/000409

http://disk.zaborin.ru/000407

http://disk.zaborin.ru/000417

When the Captcha code needs to be input to allow download I refresh it till it displays numbers only and then I can input the code and proceed with the download.

Any help with the problem would would be appreciated.

Regards Geoff.

Cylinder dimensions are the problem. They come with a default of 25.59 and no unit type, which means it is interpreted as 25.6 meters. Change the cylinder dimensions to CylinderStroke ( 0.69m ) and CylinderDiameter ( 0.67m ) to get an engine that does not run at light speed.

You also might want to add a boiler volume line as well. Copy anything that works from another steamer

Hi Copperpen,

It is excellent to get a quick response on a problem and even more when the answer given fixes the problem.

Thanks for that.

Regards Geoff

HI Geoff

Found another problem with these engines. The max firing rate is too low and does not allow the heat into the boiler to get high enough, result is a boiler pressure in freefall. Change the SteamFiremanMaxPossibleFiringRate from 2000 to 3000 or 3500.

Hi,
Advice much apreciated.

I load all new stock in Conbuilder and it spits the dummy about the Mass being in the wrong place if so.
The mass line needs to be after the size line not before it to make Conbuilder happy.
I have corrected that for a lot of these locos.

Does the mass in the wrong place matter?

Regards Geoff.

Far as I can tell, it does not make any difference to OR if it is before or after the size line.
