The locomotive SBB_E33_8487 can be installed with MSTS-AE and running normally.
In the OR splash screen appears: Charging Error: E33_8487.
Where is the reason, I don’t find him.

That load error could be realted to almost anything. But without any more info, it´s impossible to tell.

So, could you please attach the loco ENG file that you were using to this thread (if it is not a payware item)?

Cheers, Markus

I noted that the double quotes ( "xxx" ) are missing around the Description ( xxx ).

Not sure if that could cause the problem of the file not loading, but it sure is an error.

Cheers, Markus

The reason for the failure were the two quotes at the end of the entry in E33_8487.eng, line 400 ("SBB E3/3 8487 "Tigerli""). Correctly:("SBB E3/3 8487 "Tigerli").
There also seems to be important that in the *.eng the entries in Name / Engine / Wagon are identical. Otherwise there are disturbances in MSTS Editor or OR in the window "locomotive".

While I agree that ("SBB E3/3 8487 "Tigerli"") is incorrect, so is ("SBB E3/3 8487 "Tigerli"). It should be ("SBB E3/3 8487 Tigerli") , .

As copperpen said, the quote before Tigerli must also go away. You could, however, write it like this: ("SBB E3/3 8487 'Tigerli'") [Single quote / apostrophe instead of double quote. MSTS and ORTS don´t care about that character in quoted (double quotes) text]

Correct for Engine and Wagon section, but not for Name, according to the MSTS Tech Docs (Eng and Wag Reference Guide v2), found on MSTS CD2:

Quote

Name --- The name of the wagon, as it will be seen by the player in the GUI.

However, in a number of case, I have found MSTS (ORTS too?) to be inconsistent in the use of this line. It is said in the docs it must go into the Engine section of the ENG file. However, putting it anywhere in there does not necessarily work. In my experience it has to go right below the Sound line defining the in-cab sounds.

On a side note, the line Name also works in WAG file, where there cannot be an Engine section.

If the above is correct (from my experience, it is, but who knows?) the problem must lie elsewhere, but changing the Name line to match the filename for some curious reason cures the problem. It works, but seems strange to me.

Any other opinions?

BTW, did you correct the missing quotes around the text inside the Description () block?

Cheers, Markus
