Hi,

I must be the only one doing it this way. Open Rails has not opened into the game since X2778 for my Banana Junior 6000.

First is the log from X2778 showing it did work on the BJ6000.Attached File  OpenRailsLog2778.txt (14.88K)
Number of downloads: 176

Second attachment is as far as the log gets with any version after X2778.Attached File  OpenRailsLogX2811.txt (808bytes)
Number of downloads: 173

The menu opens, I can adjust the selections. I can hit the start button. After a second, I get a CTD, and the Microsoft Error report option.

The menu returns, but a second attempt to start is as fruitless as the first.

I really would hate to let Bill have this for one of his rummage sales.

There are clearly computers (not only yours) that aren't compatible with the requests for computer configuration, that are done to get data for the OR logfile. James, couldn't these requests be made optional (default = yes)?

Hi,

Still not working with the release of X2864. The log appears to be choking on the existence of the AMD High Definition Audio Device inherent to the AMD HD 4350 Video Card, whether the AMD device is enabled or not thru Device manager, and disabling the second sound chip also has no effect, also done thru Device Manager.

Maybe it has been nobbled by The Giant Purple Snorklewacker. Other than that I have no ideas.

Hi,

I didn't think CSantucci's suggestion that outlandish. X2396 and before up to X2778 ran fine with this card in two different towers on XP SP3. The first tower was a Gateway with a dual core, something on it's MOBO crashed and burned, causing a power switch key on an extended keyboard to melt.

I do think it's the returned info from the card, my Log file still appears identical to the one I have in the first post, with Null characters for the model and make (on my system), and the 'primary 0x0' and '1920 x 0' in the display area.

OK Doug,
waiting that someone decides to make that log info optional to enable people like you using OR, you can upgrade to release 2867 and then unzip the two runactivity exes included here
Attached File  Runactivities.zip (1.22MB)
Number of downloads: 169
into the OR folder, overwriting the two existing runactivity exes.
It's a runactivity version that bypasses the system info collection.

Hi,

Thanks Carlo, I appreciate this very much.

I am not beyond trying to debug this, it may help with other ATI Cards.

A factoid I remembered from the Gateway MOBO: Windows Device manager would (could?) not return a specific value for the ATI Card on that MOBO. It posted instead 'HD 43XX/45XX series'. I remember this as I was somewhat happy to see the current ASUS MOBO return the exact data. (HD 4350 )

I'll post at Trainsim.com a screengrab of what's installed in the Microsoft area of All programs on this system. Perhaps something is missing from either .Net or Visual C ++.

Hi,

I've managed to upgrade to X2868. Could someone PM me the link to the archived Xseries?

The run activity module is failing in 2868, attached is the log file.
Attached File  OpenRailsLogX2868.txt (739bytes)

Doug,
what happens when you want to start the simulation? Does OR return to the main menu window, or does it freeze?

Hi Carlo,

I get the ORTS initial loading screen. The bar at the bottom does not begin moving. After about one second , the program goes CTD and there's a Microsoft S/DS error box. Once I clear the Microsoft box, either way, meaning I send the report, or I don't send the report, the ORTS Menu reappears. An effort to start again fails in the same manner.

I just ran an X up to 2874, and the CTD persists.

Doug Relyea

This is the same manner in which it has CTD'ed since I started the thread. Only difference I can see is the Log sometimes does not make it to the sound card before the report ends.
