Now that we have the basic parameters visible in the HUD and easier to read, I have noticed with steam locomotives that when a save is restored all of the activity starting parameters are restored as well. These are boiler pressure, boiler water level, tender fuel and water levels.

Copperpen,
I attach here the modified runactivity.exe and runactivityLAA.exe.
Could you check if tender water and coal level now are correctly saved and restored? For the two other parameters it's more difficult to me, because they require knowledge of the steam loco physics (adding such parameters to save and restore list is not enough). However I think that restoring correctly the fuel levels is the most important step.

I attach also the patch

PS: attachments removed, a new version is available in a subsequent post.

That one did not work. It started the activity with 0% fuel and water, should have been 100%. This was fixed once a while back, but cant remember when. Will have to trawl through the SVN files to find out.

That's strange, this works here. Can you pls. provide me the activity file, the .con file and the .eng and .wag file of loco and tender of the player train? Are you using a loco with incorporated tender?

Actually, I tried this on explore route on a test route where the original problem was exactly the same as running an activity. . The engine has separate tender and the eng file has MaxTenderCoalMass ( 11200lb ) and MaxTenderWaterMass ( 55000lb ) as starting values and has always displayed the correct values before. Further testing using an activity gives a proper start with proper fuel/water levels being displayed, but use any steam engine in explore mode and you get zero fuel and water.

Carlo, that one works for tender levels and boiler water level. From the HUD aspect, it is only the Boiler Pressure that reverts, but that is controlled by other items like firing rate. On Restore, the BP falls unless the throttle is closed down about halfway. At that point everything starts to catch up and BP starts to climb again.

Thanks Mervyn,
I don't dare putting the hands in the complicated steam physics. I will upload the patch as it is, as I think that coal and water level were the most important parameters to be saved and restored correctly.

Uploaded in release 2804.

OK Carlo,
I have asked steamer_ctn to look at the other item. Thanks for what you have already done.
