I worked on this "upgraded" K27 in the early days of OR. The render doesn't show the textures.
SIGH! What might have been, eh?! Maybe, one day. But it's great to post a render again.

That's a spectacular looking model, but I'm a super whistle nitpick. Case in point, is that a Reading 6-chime on her? :lol2: It shouldn't be too bad of a change if you want it to look more accurate, though, as you just gotta remove the dividers in the whistle, make it a bit smaller height-wise, and possibly add a little connector between the bowl and the bell if there isn't one already. In the end, it should look like this. Just a suggestion if you want this model to be a tad more realistic.

Nice looking but it looks more like a inside valve k-36 (didnt exist) than a k-27 or a combination of the two

I think that's the good Captain's "K-35" (like a K-27/36 hybrid). Still looking good as ever, would be good for fictional narrow gauge or narrow gauge abroad. :lol2:

Oops!
I think Ryan cracked it! One of the projects I was working on was a high detail experimental cross-over model to test OR, so I up detailed a K27 and added detailing seen in a Quickpic book on the K27 + one on the K36 - as far as I recollect. The K27 model is based on a set of excellent plans published in MRR during the late 70's, but no such [hi detailed] plan existed for the K36, and still doesn't.
Cheers Bazza.

@Dustin. Plans in modeling mags typically do not include enlarged detail of such items as whistles, etc. However, QP photobooks show views of the prototype, as photographed, on a certain day in history. There are so many variations possible, due to multiple changes over a loc's long lifetime, that you go for the detail best photographed as a reference.
Cheers n thanks,
Bazza.
