Can we implement switching over our control to another loco which is situated away from the yard so that the existing engine can be removed and the new one can be added. This is required in routes where the latter portion is unelectrified so that it becomes necessary for us to switch the locomotive to diesel...

If all goes according to plan, that may become available for timetable mode in a couple of months time.
I have already experimented with a player train which forms the next service train as defined in the $forms command in the timetable. There is however still quite a lot of work to do before it is ready for release.
