The only thing I can tell you is that it will be released when's it's ready. The OR team is not publishing any expected completion dates. However; I do think that it is getting close. OR team am I on the right track here?

That was well put.

The official list for this milestone is here at the Bug Tracker. There's still some items to go though, so perhaps it's time for a review.

Perhaps I should also say that you don't have to wait for v1.0 to move on from v0.9.

Our website has downloads which are updated every Friday evening to provide the latest goodies and the current versions of Open Rails are able to update themselves semi-automatically.

Yes, if you want to see what Open Rails is truly capable of, try the Friday experimental releases. It's remarkable how far it's come from v0.9, and how many bugs have been addressed along the way.

Another way to look at it, MSTS was never really "complete" even with the 1.4 update from Microsoft. The BIN patch fixed a few more significant bugs and/or bad behavior, but that's been all there is for the rest of its life. We've all just become accustomed to what MSTS does and doesn't do, forgetting that it probably wasn't ever worthy of being called a 1.x release.

You may be pleasantly surprised by how well the Friday releases run. You can also keep your existing v0.9 installation. I have shortcuts to each so I can compare behavior if something odd does happen.

Chris, thanks for the confirmation with what I had and seen from the OR team.

Eric, I totally second you about the experimental releases. That is all I run for OR now.
