S.S. ELMIRA LACKAWANNA RR Ferryboat
Chris Gerlach-Jeff Farquar (Master Chief)
Lackawanna Railroad Steam Ferryboat
A double ended Steam driven Ferryboat constructed in the early 1900s which served in New York Harbor between New Jersey and Manhattan for over fifty years. She was built and operated by the Lackwanna Railroad, and later as the Erie-Lackawanna line ship.
1344 tons
Triple Expansion Engine 32x32x32
700 hp
2 watertube boilers 225 psi
double deck single screw 1901
Created by Cris and edited and saved by Jeff Faraquar, who reworked the shape files to make this model possible. Many thanks to him and to many others including Tim Muir, Barry Munro (Captain Bazza), John Fleming who was my first ship instructor and many friends at Elvas Tower.
Intended for the Tri State MSTS/OR route under development covering the Steam Era in New York State and city, this ship was a well known and loved vessel seen in New York Harbour for many decades. Now she can live on in virtual form.
