Just a thought - speed limits (x2194 and several earlier ones) in the F4 window seem to take effect when the back end of the train passes the speed limit sign. That's appropriate when the new speed is higher than the old one. It's generally NOT appropriate behavior when the new speed is lower than the previous one - in that case the speed limit should take effect when the FRONT end of the train passes. If you're paying attention to speed posts looking out the window, no problem. If you're not paying attention, a long train can push you very far into a restrictive speed zone before the limit changes in the F4 window.

MSTS of course works the other way: F4 speed limit changes (in both directions) when the head end passes. To follow most rulebooks, it needs to change both ways as noted above.

Cheers!

The only known problem with speed post with lower speeds not being applied immediately is the first encountered speed limit in Explorer mode.
As far as I know, all other lower speed limits are immediately active on passing the speed limit sign.
If you have situations where this is not so, please provide an example - preferably on a freeware route so it can be verified.

Thanks. Will do a little more research with some activities. I noticed it in Explore mode - seemingly regardless of route but the ones I was using most recently were the Grand Junction-Glenwood Springs, Tennessee Pass, and Moffatt Road routes from trainsim. If it's only an Explore Mode thing then it's OK - will just need to remember what's happening and pay attention.
