Yeah, the antialiasing you get is down to the driver's settings (along with texture quality, etc.).

Well, sort of... My experience is that the best anti-aliasing I can get in ORTS, I get when setting my graphics card`s AA settings to "use application settings". Gives me just the right amount of AA, without slowing down performance too much ;)

I agree with Mr. Markus.

I am using this strategy with my graphics card, an Nvidia Quadro 600, and the result is very good.
