I know, I know, I probably shouldn´t have gone to run ORTS on the evening before my maths finals :bravo:

Anyway, I have noticed this problem on quite a few (actually all) cabviews already, just it never was that annoying as it is now: When setting the Cab 2dStretch % option to anything else than 100, you can move up and down with the up and down arrow keys to see the hidden part of the cabview. As long as you once change to the inside view, and stay there, everything is OK. But change to an outside view (no matter which one) and back, or simply press the 1 key again while in the cab, and the angle of the camera will reset to some default value. Thus, the setting to which it was brought using the arrow keys is just overridden, and you may get some ridiculous viewing angles like 45° down to the ground. No chance to see any signals other than dwarfs.

The angles you get, of course, depend on the cabview you use, and it´s "initial" camera settings. Yet, what´s even more annoying: Change cab stretch to 100 (no up and down movement possible with the arrow keys, and cab terribly distorted on 16x9 ratio monitors) the same resetting of the angle of the camera happens when changing to an outside view and back. And, without up-and-down-moving possibility, it´s impossible to reset the view to something acceptable.

You can try to recreate the issue with almost any cabview, and with any cab stretch setting that is not 100 (anything lower than 90 will give well obvious results). And please don´t ask me about any revision numbers - it has been around since the cab stretch option has been introduced way back in the year of 2013. Just it has never caused such annoying effects on any cab view for me up to now.

Can anybody relate to this?

Cheers, Markus

Ctrl+8 resets the camera and you regain the ability to use the cursor keys if I remember correctly? Bit of a pain but better than being stuck looking downwards.

Cheers,
John.

Edit: I did remember correctly.

Completely; I've seen this myself a number of times but never gotten around to reporting or fixing it. I reset with Control-8 like John mentioned.

Thanks for the tip with the shortcut.

Any chance it will be fixed rather sooner than later?

Also, should I file a bug report?

Cheers, Markus

PS: Don´t ask about my bad mood today - I just came home from my maths finals!

Indeed, after some research, I found I changed Ctrl8 to Ctrl7, but it works. Just, it´s quite a hassle to re-arrange your field of view every time you change cameras...

Well, I said my point earlier already, would like to see it fixed.

Cheers, Markus

Yes, Markus, I've seen the effects of the bug and tried unsuccessfully to fix it.

Perhaps I'll try again but it's not top of my list right now.

Hi Chris,

Good to know I´m at least not alone, who finds it annoying ;)

I´m back with American trains now, with the cabs I´m used to, and just will let those Austrian trains with their sometimes "interesting" cabview cobinations be ´till it is fixed :)

Cheers, Markus
