Not sure if this is a bug, and if it is, it´s definitely a minor one.

Do you see the fog-faded tile edge (that at the same time is the horizon there, since there are no DMs defined on that part of the route) in the area marked red? I´m experiencing this on a few routes (this example being the ATSF Gallup Sub by Bob Wirth, available at TS.com) anywhere where the normal terrain ends close to the tracks and where there are no DMs defined. Changing the fog settings won´t affect it. It´s just there, and doesn´t even have to do with the distance at which the scenery ends, as can be seen in the area marked green in the shot, which is way farther away...

Any thoughts?

Cheers, Markus

This is a new feature that was added in X2013 (8th Feb) to make the edge of the terrain less harsh, reduce pop-in of scenery and blend into distant mountains nicely. It's more obvious with lower viewing distances (try running with 500m) but I do like how it makes DM transition to non-DM in the distance too.

Ah, so that´s it about! Having given it a quick shot, I noticed the blend-in if I looked close, but sometimes, when DMs are lower than standard terrain, it really stands out like in the shot I took.

Actually a cool feature. Does it also apply to static shapes?

Cheers, Markus

Yeah, it's meant to apply to everything that disappears at the "near" (non-DM) horizon. I don't think it actually works on forests, transfers and signal lights but they're minor issues compared to terrain and static shapes.

So that´s why I have seen some ghost buildings, semi-transparently hovering along the near horizon! :yahoo:

Everything clear now, "issue" solved :jumpy:

:oldstry: for the explanation

Cheers, Markus
