Hi Folks
Been playing around with both the Environment and Terrtex lately... Question - would it be possible and would it make sense to randomize the water tile orientation in order to minimize the effect of repeating patterns ??? Any time you try to add any real detail to a water texture you inevitably wind up with some type of repeating pattern - that the eye can pick out pretty readily - more so at specific angles... One trick that helps now to minimize the pattern effect is to use low contrast textures so that it all seems to blend together... I think randomization would certainly improve the visual effect even further and if technically possible - I can't think of a reason not to do it... Water tiles should be seamless to begin with...
Anyway - just a thought...
Thanks for all you guys do...
Regards,
Scott

While ORTS is W.I.P. there is no point in doing anything to improve it !
Their team are working on ORTS being able to use the KOSMOS environments, including water and if not perhaps create similar themselves ?

Yes every chance we get to improve we should and will.
I agree on water, the MSTS water is horrible. I have long worked on improving them and hope we can in OR. water usually has dynamics, ie ripples or waves and they can help us break the tiling patter if it is done right. I am hopeful about that. thanks, nice to see you Otto. ;) thanks for the sharing.

... and water has reflective qualities. I was struck by a photo of Train Simulator 2014 and noticed how that.
