I would like to check how OR reacts with high poly models. Can someone pls. provide me the download address for some loco with 80K polys and more, and some wagon with 20K polys and more (if there are any)?

Hi...
Just for clarification - you want single model over 80K - right - not smaller ones with Freight Animations to pass that threshold ?
Regards,
Scott

Hi Scott,
thanks for answer. Yes, I'd prefer a single model over 80K, but if no one is available, I will have to check with lower poly ones ( but at least over 40K).

there are various freight cars with 30.000 polys or more.
Here, in Downloads-beta, there are a steamer gs6 and a boxcab with more the 50.000 polys.
A train with a RENFE311 ( 27.000 polys ) and say 20 cars and a good PC and the OR remains impervious.
The limit is very much higher.
Cheers.

MSTS 4 Bay ACF Covered Hopper ACFX 36584. Two versions, 8406 poly low detailed and 21093 poly high detailed. Both will load and run in MSTS but the high poly version is better suited for Open Rails. Model and textures by Robert Murphy. Model may contain textures containing portions of photos from George Elwood's Fallen Flags website. The coupler and wheel textures are courtesy of Ted Curphey.
At Trainsim.com, or I can email you the file...

Thanks to RTP and Robert! I'll have a try with some of these models.

I'm not sure how many poly's this loco has, it has around 80k in one shape. Including the tender it has over 100k.

I've to check, but I think there's also a high poly openrails only tankercar from russia available somewhere.
Cheers Jordi

Tested.
There is no load for the OR.
The limits come from the routes, not from the trains.
Cheers.

Even if there are no technical limits, it's better when the triangle counts should be reasonable. Today for a very nice and detailed locomotive 80k triangles is plenty enough, but for the most of the modern locos even less is enough.

I neither had problems in displaying such models. So I can prove to modelers of my country that they can develop hi-poly models for OR without risking that they won't run. That was my objective, and it has been reached. Thank you all.
