Thanks everyone! Dustin, thank you for telling me! I was in the market for an abandoned steamer. Do you have a file name?

Damo, do you mind my asking what route is in your first group of photos and where/if it may be downloaded? It's an incredibly beautiful looking route.

For now, you could use the 4-4-0, 0-6-0, or even the 2-8-0 from this Bessemer & Lake Erie steam pack on TrainSim, since they're all rusty and dirty and gross. The 2-8-0 isn't really that bad, the 0-6-0 is sort of in the middle, and the 4-4-0 is really gross and slimy. The title and description may say it's a B&LE Texas, but look in the folder and it's the steam pack I'm talking about. ble_stea.zip

I made my own super rusty steamer for a plot point for one fictional railroad, and I'm thinking of redoing it using some newly found Gmax skills to strip it of some parts, as well as redoing the textures. Here's the old version.

What you should do with a retired steamer waiting for scrap is to dismanstle the connection rods and valve gear and place them on the running board, so they could haul the dead loco behind diesels. All fittings like bells, whsitles and lights would possibly been removed, either taken by collectors, scrap dealers or just removed by crews for selling to other roads.

Which is exactly what I'm doing for this current junk 2-8-0 project. I'm also making an empty coal tender with a visible bunker. I didn't place the rods on the running boards, though, which I should do. Should I remove the pilot for this project?

Hi mate,
The route pictured is a modified Whittle Colliery route over at UKTrainsim. I just added trees and I increased the areas where the field grasses and flowers are already in the route.
Its a great small route for moving coal to an exchange siding from the mine head.
Cheers
Damo
