Use:

TriState (
Type ( FRONT_HLIGHT TRI_STATE )

etc.

Works fine.

Currently this is in the DF11GA.cvf file for the example model that Jtang has posted:

Quote

TriState (
Type ( FRONT_HLIGHT TRI_STATE )
Position ( 194 401 29 23 )
Graphic ( "DF11G_deng.ACE" )
NumFrames ( 3 3 1 )
Style ( NONE )
MouseControl ( 1 )
Orientation ( 0 )
DirIncrease ( 0 )
)

This DOES NOT have a two position movement in the 3DCAB, the code looks the same as you have posted. Did I miss something here?

I made only a two key animation for the headlight, a mistake I think.

This is what I did, and when I start an activity the game crashes and it says it cannot find the player locomotive for this activity.
ORTS3DCab(
          ORTS3DCabFile ( cab.s )
          ORTS3DCabHeadPos ( 8.352 2.116 -0.021 )
          RotationLimit ( 40 60 0 )
          StartDirection ( 12 0 0 )
 	  Sound ( "y2eng.sms" )

)

However, without that code, my train works. What did I do wrong?

I placed it below Sound, which is immediately after the light section in the .eng file.

It can stay there. Maybe the closing parenthesis of the Wagon() block missing? Here is how it is done in JTang's example:
   	Sound (	"DF11Geng.sms" )
	ORTS3DCab(
            ORTS3DCabFile ( Cab.s )
            ORTS3DCabHeadPos ( -0.9 2.4 5.2 )
            RotationLimit ( 40 60 0 )
            StartDirection ( 12 0 0 )
 	    Sound ("DF11Geng.sms" )
	)
)

Engine ( DF11G_0001

Would you like to attach the complete .eng file to a post?

PS JTang has preceded me.

I now managed to get it In Game, however when I rotate the camera just a little bit, the whole interior goes invisible. It then re-appears if I either return the camera to its original position or if I rotate it about 90 degrees. The whole "back part" of the cab can be viewed, until about 180 degrees later when it becomes invisible. Then it becomes visible when I rotate it back to its original position.
Also, what do I name the combined handle (throttle/brake) control?

Like that:

CombinedControl (
Type ( CP_HANDLE COMBINED_CONTROL )
etc..

Cheers.

RTP.

Ah, move backward a bit the point of view.

Hello,

Is it possible to add extra head positions or the ability to pan on the horizontal axis. I am currently experimenting with an island cab locomotive, I can get the drivers head position correct but when rotating 180 degrees to drive in reverse the view is dominated by a chunky window pillar and door frame. Could also be used to represent the secondman/driver's assistant view or a fireman's view for steam locos.

Cheers,
J.
