Could somebody please tell me how to disengage the emergency brake in OR?
Is there a way to maneuver switches (The RD buttons do not work)?
Is there a feature in OR corresponding to the RD "Yard view", i.e. the feature where you get information on track numbers. Difficult to change around with cars to e.g. "track 41" when you have no idea where this is.

In some addons the speedometer in the cab is not working. Something I can do about this?
BTW, why is the RD display of the speed wrong?

Regards

Sven

To change switches in ORTS, you either have to be in explore mode, or, if in an activity, switch to manual mode first by pressing Ctrl M. In which mode you currently are can be seen in the track monitor (F4). Then you can use the keyboard shortcuts (G and Shift G, IIRC) or the switch window (F8) to change the switches.

The equivalent to MSTS' yard view would be ORTS' free roam camera (8 key).

I think you can release emrgency brale by switching to maual mode... not sure on that though. And also no experience with rail driver...

Cheers, Markus

Thanks, Markus, for the quick reply. Was not aware that different "modes" existed. Can I read about this somewhere?
BTW, do you run OR with keyboard only (since you are not using RD)?

Yep, I´m a keyboard-only guy ;) Works well for me, though.

I think its supposed to be in the documentation that you can download right next to the stable releases of ORTS on their homepage as Operations Manual (PDF).

See : here, page 56.
And if you go 'out of control' (e.g. for passing signal at danger or going off path), you must switch to Manual when at a stand-still, and then you can release the emergency brakes. If back on intended path (shown by white 'own train' symbol in F4 window), you can switch back to Auto mode.

Thanks. You are all very helpful.
Now I can see the siding names using the F6 though a problem is that I only see the colored lines leading up to the labels, but the labels themselves are above the picture frame, i.e. I cannot see them. How to get them down in view?

Have you tried moving the camera down? I experienced sometimes that in siding-dense areas, the lables at first are out of view. Changing the camera immediately got them back.

Otherwise, it´s probably either a problem with your installation of ORTS' installation and other required software (.NET and so on), or with ORTS itself...

Of course, move the camera.
BTW, driving in the Swiss mountains (Glacier Express) is much more tricky in OR then in MSTS. In the latter I rarely exsperienced wheel slip problems, but in OR you have to be very careful. Probably the OR is much more realistic, with their adhesion model.
