While I'm no OR user yet, I have an idea for a feature that I've been struggling with in MSTS and bin. The ability to do manual firing while leaving the throttle-pulling to the AI. And the ability to leave the AI to take charge of the train while the player controls a helper if he/she so desires. I've tried doing both in MSTS bin, but the AI always intervenes with the fire and injectors.

It may not be something that would be used or recommended by everyone, but still something for us who just want to pile coal on the fire and leave the hogger to his business. :)

Good ideas, Jonatan.

What we're working towards is AI for anything. A player might be able to delegate his role to AI and also take over an AI role. For steam, driver and fireman should be independent roles, so the player could take on either. In the same way, he could take on a brakeman role or play the despatcher's role.

This approach (if we can make it work ! ) fits very well with multi-player, so a new player joining the session would be able to take over any of the AI roles.

What do you think?

Great ideas indeed!
Though... shouldn't these awesome ideas come only when there's an ORTS activity editor? Just asking!...
