1920's style twin funnel inter-island steamer
For MSTS and Open Rails
By Captain Bazza

SS Tamahine, 1925-62, Cook Strait inter-island passenger ferry, Wellington/Picton run, New Zealand. Scaled NZR128, but suitable for standard MSTS scenery object. I never sailed on this ferry, but I did have one return trip (1964) on her then modern replacement, TEV Aramoana.

This model was fairly complex for it's early slot in the MSTS time-line.

EULA: free use.

ENJOY!

BTW, the ship's name is NZ Maori and pronounced Tama-heeny.

Nice vessel, Barry, thanks for sharing this here with us. Looking her over in shape viewer I was curious about the cut of the stern and how it looks like that of a tug boat, with the reversed "tumblehome".

What is meant by "Scaled NZR 128", by the way?

Thanks. The scale is actually approx 1:128, but it should not matter too much compared to 1:1. Originally to accommodate NZR's 3 ft 6 inch track I decided to scale up all NZ scenery assets to match MSTS SG track being used as NG. This was well before XTracks, but there's still no 3 ft 6 in gauge track. I haven't made any NZ assets for years now.

There is another ship, or two, to be uploaded.

Cheers Bazza
