Here's one with the better sounds.

That's only slightly better. But still a lot off from what I've been used to with the soundsets from Brandon Smith for MSTS. It's still not that great.

Yeh, it still has some warping.

For some reason though, the sound-set on the locomotives I'm using in Trainz has no "warping" or "speeding up".

I'll have to go home and film the FEF-2 I'm using.

While the engine sounds are good, I'm disappointed at the lack of overall track sounds, the only ones audiable are when the engine passes over switches. Not so with the rest of the consist it seems. I'm used to a steady rumble and clatter of the tracks, Allegheny Rails is a perfect example.

Yeah, having run the AR for more than a year now, I can say those are some danged good track sounds! A bit unusual for modern running, but the sounds provide a lot of atmosphere.

If you want to have a real time waster to watch something long. This guy made a set of 3 part videos on the scenario for the new Train Simulator 2014 using the new payware Pacific Surfliner route. The guy seems to be pretty competent in driving the train from what I could see. Only caution I'd take is this is if you got any kids you may want to stray away from watching this. This guy has a mouth that sometimes he'd mention the F*** U* words. Something I don't really care for when listening to stuff like this. Fortunately it's not a whole lot that he says that.

The user is TheMiddleAgedGamer in YouTube. Here's Part 1 of the run from Los Angeles all the way to San Diego the stop in the end of the first scenario is Irvine, California. (60 minutes)

Part 2 here takes off from where he stopped in the first part and goes on to Oceanside, California. (48 minutes)

The one thing I got to say about that route is the scenery sure is lovely. Of course it's set in the modern time from the looks of it. However, regarding the physics of the locomotive, it seems the way that locomotive starts out seem like it's trying to pull a really heavy train to start. Even when it's not really. The sounds of the locomotive seems to be off too. The real horn don't sound like that. I've heard that horn lots of times in real life to know. Perhaps the engine sounds fine but not that horn. For payware you'd think they'd get their stuff correct.

I think I'd stick with MSTS still. Plus I can run just about some of the loveliest steamers with excellent sounds. All thanks to the wonderful route makers, modelers, sound creators, and all the rest that contribute in any way to the modding in the community. :rofl2: :rotfl:

Here's some interesting ride on the Horseshoe Curve in an EMD F7. Posted by DaSquirrelsNuts, the scenario run is 54 minutes.

This guy is obviously from the UK and thinks the trains here are crazy long. :victory:

Who from Europe, who has not seen American Trains too often, would not think that?

Compare to over here: For me when I go out railfanning I start jumping around all over the place when I get to see one of the iron ore Trains run to the steel mill of VOEST Alpine (These mills laso produce the logest cotinuos non welded rails in the world  ): 2 Taurus locos (or similar, quite often also some DB) and 20 hopper cars. That´s really Long over here or a bulk freighter. And some Container Trains or piggybacks might get up to 30 cars.

Compare that to your 100+ car Monsters and think! :)

Cheers, Markus

The longest trains here are 3,000 meters.

That would be some 150 cars, doing an approximate claculation in my head. Would be 5 times the longest Trains we have over here! :) :)

Cheers, Markus
