Sounds fine to me; maybe we can have a "paranoia" logging option at some point that spits all these kinds of things out.

Good idea.

Also, when we eventually get an OR format for the ENG etc. files, I expect we'll have a convertor from MSTS format to OR and that could restore all the missing units.

Perhaps it could spit out that it is "assuming unit foo" but I'd hope that we would use unitless values (always SI units except in exceptional cases). :)
