I have an activity scenario that has a train with a rear bank engine.

At a certain location on the route, track occupancy limits restrict the full train from passing through. Thus the train must be divided into two divisions, and worked through as two separate sections, one with the train engine and one with the bank engine. Once through the section the train is recombined and sets off on its merry way.

Is it possible to do this with cab swapping to control the two sections whilst the are divided?

Is there another way of achieving a similar outcome?

Thanks

Switching between trains is not (yet) possible.
But to work through this sequence:
  • Put an engine in the middle of the consist.
  • Split the train immediately behind this 'middle' engine.
  • Run the first portion.
  • Switch cabs to what is now the rear engine of the first portion.
  • Detach this engine and run it back to pick up the second portion.
  • Run the second portion.
  • Attach the second portion to the first, and swab cabs back to the leading engine again.
  • Done.

You can either define the whole sequence using reversal points, or run the engine back and the second portion in 'Manual mode'.

Interesting work around.
Could this be a short, "invisible" loco?

Well, you have to drive it back to pick up the second part.
Looks a bit odd to drive an invisible engine, I would say.

Just in a bit of off-topic sidenote, I have tried to test if I could change to a driving coach on the back of my train and everything worked as it should. I pressed Control+E two times, one to change to the rear car of my diesel locomotive, then another to change the rear driving coach, and lights and stuff were working perfectly. Now there's only that of fixing the change to the second cab with the direction of the lights and etc, but we have already talked about that! :pleasantry:

Cheers.
