The fog is gone... is that distant terrain part of the normal route terrain or part of the display distant mountain feature?

Holy snappers! And that's the KHP route - good old Field I can tell. Man, don't think I ever saw it look THAT good! And just a simple '1' huh? Gotta go try that out! :rotfl:

MSTSbin, I don't leave the yard without it. :sign_thanks: So has definitely made my KHP look better in that aspect. And checking GTA, it's set for 000001? Toronto has a few hills, but wouldn't call them 'distant mountains' by any means. (Montreal on the other hand...) So I've made that just zeroes and hope it improves performance and looks. I actually would prefer the GTA to have that distant smokey fog like in your first pic. But on a quick test, I couldn't see much difference to it. Then again, I've deleted most distant tiles to conserve route size and all, and am in the process of putting in backdrops to conceal the fact.

I checked some of my routes and saw it was set to 1 in the Cal-P but not in Goose Island so it was something I read about some time ago and have forgotten all about it.

Going on distant memory (not to be confused with distant mountains) here...
"1" in the trk file under the Mountains setting indicates to MSTS that DM's are present on that route and thus they are displayed. There must be DM's present before the "1" will make a difference. Also, you must have the "Display Distant Mountains" box checked in the "Options" menu. (Or called something like that.) If it is not checked DM's will not display even if present in the route.

Thanks Andre, I had completely forgotten about the Display Option for Distant Mountains. I always have all those Display boxes checked. So yes, I had the Distant Mountains box checked in Options for both pictures. The only difference was the 1 in the TRK file.
