West Side Lumber Company Heisler #3 Pre-1947 "For MSTS"_Final
November 21th, 2012
Model by: Allen Norton.
Textures by Allen Norton
Physics created by: Herb Kelsey, Arnold Günther ( Deepguinness ), Allen Norton
Sounds provided by: Steven West and Derek Miller with their permission.
Caricatures of engineer and fireman("Toms Crews")by "Tom Werb" AKA(Sandy River Tom)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Special Thanks to: Arnold Günther ( Deepguinness ) for figuring out the coupler problems
and getting them to work. The slack is gone and hopefully gone for good.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Model is not very speedy and it takes a long time to cover any distance. Top speed on the
flat and level is 12 MPH. She will run away on steep down grades after the 12 MPH or so.
I usually set retainers (brakes) on two or three car's and pull the train down hill. It's
much more controllable that way. But you can do it anyway you like.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Model does not perform well in "Open Rails". The speed cannot be
controled and she will run away at speeds in excess of 100 MPH. Possibly later
versions will have more controls for geared steam locomotives.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a link/pin equiped locomotive but will couple to any automatic coupler.
She may not recouple to them however.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When making a consist model is loaded as Heisler_WSLC-3-part1, part2
and part3. Consist included is from Arnold Günther. It's not set up as pt.1, 2, 3 but
work's and is okay to use.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Please read.

Lighting is not finished yet. I'm still exploring idea's on how to light the rear
lamp. The front lamp follows the front bogie and moves around in the housing. It
is the way it is in order to have the cab attached to the front locomotive. Using
this method of the cab attached to the front bogie causes the heads out position
to jump around on rough trackage and curves.

Steam cocks don't seem to want to work. The HUD say's their functioning but no
steam appears to be coming from the cylinders. They are open at startup and will
need to be closed manually with the "C" key.

Also at start up. The engine brakes are fully applied but the little information
window that is supposedto pop up to tell you the percentage applied or released
isn't working. Just tap the left parentheses key several times.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
SOME HISTORY:The West Side Lumber Company owned 4 Heisler's. Two were 37 tonner's
of which this is one of that pair and two of a slightly larger tonnage. Number 3
was trucked as a narrow gauge locomotive until 1947 after which it was re-trucked
to standard gauge and became the Tolumne switcher. Some time after this it was
sold to the Roaring Camp & Big Trees Railroad. The RC&BT then re-trucked it back
to narrow gauge.
