In the former editiion of OR I could replace some lines in the eng file of 3DTS and other payware locos with this:

Brake_Dynamic ( 0 1 0.1111 0
NumNotches ( 10
Notch ( 0 0 Dummy )
Notch ( 0.1111 0 Dummy )
Notch ( 0.2222 0 Dummy )
Notch ( 0.3333 0 Dummy )
Notch ( 0.4444 0 Dummy )
Notch ( 0.5555 0 Dummy )
Notch ( 0.6666 0 Dummy )
Notch ( 0.7777 0 Dummy )
Notch ( 0.8888 0 Dummy )
Notch ( 0.9999 0 Dummy )

...and I would get the dynamic brake notches back. This no no longer seems to work.

When I start a route I get the message -- Information: Smooth Dynamic Brake may have inaccurate display

Any suggestions on a way to get the dynamic brake notches back?

Thanks.

Hmmmmmmmm........... THat should work as its the same on the VLp N class. There is another section in the eng file for dynamic brakes......
This is the section from the above loco..........

DynamicBrakesMinUsableSpeed( 5 )
DynamicBrakesMaximumEffectiveSpeed( 25 )
DynamicBrakesMaximumForce( 100kN )
DynamicBrakesResistorCurrentLimit ( 700 )
DynamicBrakesCutInSpeed( 8 )
DynamicBrakesMaxAirBrakePressure ( 15 )
DynamicBrakesFadingSpeed( 25 )
DynamicBrakesDelayTimeBeforeEngaging ( 10 )
DynamicBrakesMaximumSpeedForFadeOut ( 65 )
DynamicBrakesEffectAtMaximumFadeOut( 0 )
DynamicBrakesHigherSpeedCurveExponent( 1 )
DynamicBrakesLowerSpeedCurveExponent( 1 )
DynamicBrakesNumberOfControllerNotches( 8 )
DynamicBrakeHasAutoBailOff( 1 )

The 3DTS payware locomotives use of the .cfv and .eng files was changed in the new release of OR to use the distribution as issued. When starting to applying the dynamic brakes when setup is displayed, release the "A" key. Then press the "A" key and continue to hold and the display will change as the brakes are applied. Use the same method with the "D" key when releasing the brakes. This is similar to the way locomotives for 3DTS work in MSTS. The Information: Smooth Dynamic Brake may have inaccurate display is just a warning

To keep the old method change the .eng file Brake_Dynamic, which you appear to have done. Go to the corresponding .cvf file for the locomotive, under the CombinedControl change DirIncrease ( 0 ) to DirIncrease ( 1 ). This should result in having stepped dynamic break controls, which IMO is a better setup.

Much of this file jockeying could have been prevented if 3DTS had stuck to the original Dash9 layout of the files in the original MSTS.
