Taking a break from the shay project while some other guys test it out, I decided to start working with the spider again. The modelling part is mostly done and the Eng work is almost complete. I need to get with Steve and see about perfecting the sounds. Yes, It has hit-and-miss sounds.

Right, right, right! So this is the thing then. So it wouldn't even have a horn. And any type of 'bell' would no doubt be a hand ringer like a school bell the crew would have on the deck they would pick up and ring.
And brake squeals would be a must too.

I know it looks simple, but this is a lot of work ahead still. :lol2:

Yep. Sure is. I'm almost ready to get it out to the testers. The sounds are about complete. Now I just need a good cab view, and drop it down a stitch.

Now I think I'm getting somewhere with the spider. Thanks to Steve, we were able to cook up some really good sounds for the spider. All I have to do now is lower it a little and have some guys test it out. Odd though, In view#5, the engine spins and I'm not even moving. It seems ORTS has the animations playing in View 5.

Nice work. Looks like it is floating a few inches above the rail, though...

It is. That's the next thing I'm going to do. Kinda dragging my feet.

Jeff, that thing just cracks me up! In a good way! The seat springs have me imagining all sorts of troubles for the virtual riders, lot's of good material for some Buster Keaton antics! Really, the model looks great. What are you going to do for a cab view, though?

Fresh air, mate, and plenty of it. Keep yer mouth shut, or you'll swallow the bugs. Arrrgh! :naughty:

I'm going to use #5 view for the cabview which shows the the engine spinning, even at a stop, which is pretty cool. Got it lowered and I'm close to finishing it. Uploading is just around the corner.
The Real McCoy.
