In commemoration of Derek's release of his Rio Grande steamers I offer the following three engine coal drag westward out of Green River on Streamlines' Green River Route. Pounding out of Green River:
Rolling across the endless Utah desert:
There are some really need weeds on this route!
Nearing Price, UT:
Aren't they beautiful?
Tied up at Helper after setting out the train.
The rear end helper, 1148, is my own repaint/reconfiguration of a personal favorite.
Of course, I need to mention the great T-29's as well. No 780 on the Craig Local:
Thanks Derek, these are wonderful locomotives!

When Derek first sent me the animated version of the DG 2-8-0, all I did was watch the couplers go from the 3 foot setting to the standard gauge setting. These are amazing models, another top notch creation!

Really? You should see my garden! I have weeds that aren't even classified yet. :sign_thanks:

Nice shots Herb! And hoping to not let the cat out of the bag, but are these the engines with the updated sounds now? Derek had sent me some audio work recently, and I did some experimenting with them. The whistles got vastly improved IMHO, but needed a bit different handling then the regular MSTS fare. How are you making out with them?
It's fun working on sounds without knowing exactly what they're for. It's kinda like deja vu when I see your pic's here, as that's what I was picturing a week or so ago. ;)

Thanks Herb - and especially thanks too for all your help on this project, supplying pictures and other reference info. to make it all possible http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/sign_thank_you.gif
It is impressive seeing them handling a long consist like that, and to ponder how long it's been since a scene like that was acted out in reality... That to me is the true beauty of the sim, being able to recreate all those things which can't be seen anymore! :thumbdown3:
I opted to stay with the existing sound sets I had for the previous WP engines for these since they fit better... the ones we've been working on would probably be better suited for older, smaller engines in my mind ;)

What will be next? Well first off, I'm going to take a little break and enjoy actually running for a little while instead of building http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/lol.gif
After that, I guess it depends on how you look at it... There are those narrow gauge offset engines you can switch narrow gauge cars with on dual gauge track http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif Since those are pretty specialized I didn't release those, though they're pretty much finished up too. Those will come out when Jared gets his Alamosa / Antonito route finished and I've offered those to him to be released with his route - so those will come out when he gets done ;)
And though I appreciate the suggestions, I have to return to my original mission which is to get the Feather River Canyon filled with steam locomotives. I actually had started on the next WP engine already when this little diversion came up lol. And what will it be? Click the link to see :thumbdown3:

Here is the offset 1161 undergoing some testing in Alamosa
Backing off the turntable
Coupler in narrow gauge position
Pulling two freshly painted coaches from the car shop
Moving to couple to the head of the train. 470 in background with a work train.
Moving a cut of boxcars to the transfer yard to be off loaded onto standard gauge cars
Moving cut of drop bottom gons to coal trestle for dumping
She is working out rather well. A very excellent loco!

That's a fine loco/tender combo, beautifully modelled. I particularly like the tender doghouse detail and the sloping coal load, a brilliant touch.
