A shot of the GE 16 ton critter painted for the pre-war Pacific Electric West on weed sprayer duty. Taken on the original PE (now defunct) route by Tim Muir.

That is the coolest little critter, for sure. I was able to finely get my copy up and running, too.
Great loco and great job... <_<

Thank you, Rick, that's much appreciated. Now that I've got it all together, maybe I'll put it back up. A couple of testers have run it. There's a little coupler slack I'd like to get rid of, but it's really not too bad. BTW, the weed sprayer car is Wayne Campbell's, re-lettered for PE.

Best,

Oh, by all means, please re-release it. It's a beauty. I love it! :negative:

This is good news, Steve! It's such a cute little guy and very useful around the shop.

The PE is dead. Long live the PE! :negative: (good to see it's still "alive" in places)

Yes, I still run the original PE, at least until the PE West comes out. The only thing that bothers me a tad with the 16 tonner is the little bit of coupler slack. Sometimes it seems rolling stock specific, not just the critter. Have you had any coupling issues? I've forgotten how to adjust the bounding boxes. Though maybe I should leave well enough alone.

Well, I did figure out how to adjust the bounding boxes through the *.sd file. It does seem to work reasonably well with most rolling stock. I guess I'll go ahead and put it up.

Best Regards,

Steve, I only ran the motor around the car house switching the big interurbans around the shop, and the supply box car out to a pickup track. It seemed to do well with those. I did adjust the Bbox a tad bit on my copy, like so:
ESD_Bounding_Box ( -1.339260 -0.018745 -1.8 1.311855 4.5 1.8 )

I sure do like how you painted the little bugger. Glad you're re-issuing it.

Route Riter can be used to adjust the bounding box with a few clicks of the mouse, works great.

Just for the sake of being the Technical Weasel, is the compressor on the 16 tonner big enough to support constant weed spraying operations?

I ask because, at my museum, we have a GE 45 tonner (diesel). The compressors on it won't support using the air hammer to put in spikes.

I don't know the air usage requirements of the sprayer, but I expect the compressor on that small a locomotive to be kind of a dog. Depending on the air volume onboard the sprayer when you start, the first half of the tank of herbicide should put a large strain on the airline.

Just to be a weasel about it.

I wouldn't mind building another weed sprayer for my group, but there's so many other things to do. The earlier one was based on a Fairmont motor car trailer, and was damaged during some careless switching maneuvers.

It looks good. I would be interested in tooling around on it in real life.

James
