Snow!! :)
Ah, there is nothing like the cool crisp mountain air, eh? :bigboss: The new snow textures are wonderful!
As snow begins to fall on a dim December afternoon, K27 #454 slugs up the grade from Hermosa toward Tacoma with a MOW train. Anticipating drifts later in the evening, the crew has brought along a shop-built bucker plow.
From the road below, drivers bundled up inside their automobiles can still hear the determined chuff of the Mike over the sounds of the road and the crackling radio static.
After rolling through Rockwood, the train rumbles through the cut, the staccato beat of the stack talk now muffled slightly by the growing layer of snow on the rock walls.
The soft flakes on the rails silence the usual rail squeal, but cause #454's drivers to lose their footing occasionally.
As the snow begins to fall harder, #454 digs in and, despite slowing below the 15 mph limit, continues on determinedly, with Tacoma almost in sight.
Crossing the river, the engine crew hunches forward over the backhead as a chilling crossbreeze whistles down the canyon and the train's vibration shakes loose small, wet snow piles onto river below.
Finally, the engine softly huffs to a stop at the Tacoma siding.
While their locomotive quietly simmers, the trainmen retreat to the warmth of a wood stove inside an outbuilding, temporarily boosting the local population to a modest 24.

I can almost see Herb at the counter getting a Coke and a slice of pie while the Capt'n takes the 454 up to Silverton.
Nightmare on Elvas Street and Bazza's comin' round the mountain. :bigboss:
You need to cut back on the toasted cheese sandwiches for supper, mate. :)
Cheers Bazza http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/dirol.gif

Been running V2 for a couple of days and tidying up the rolling stock etc, tried making the caboose smoke tonight, this is the smallest ammount of smoke i can make it emit while still looking like smoke and not doing weird things.
