I have recently experienced an annoying problem with a gap appearing between the front, or rear, coupler to the wagon 'attached' to the coupler.
This is caused by comment statements in the ENG file. These should be deleted from the problem ENG files, with the editing done in a unicode text editor, such as WordPad or ConTXT editor. Make sure you include deleting the brackets associated with the comments statement.
It is a good idea to put any relevent comments about the ENG in a separate technical text file instead of as comments in the ENG itself.

Are you sure Barry that comments caused a problem like that? How were the prefaced and where were they in the file?

Prefaced #
The # may have been the problem, but I removed all the comments anyway. I can always put 'em back without the preface. I guess that's the next test step.

I tried putting them back, but problems occurred, so I will now not put any comments at all in ENGs. I will leave them for a separate tech doc.

However I also tested one of the C16s, version BB and it has comments all the way through the ENG and they appear to have no effect...however, I have not tested the locomotive with a consist.....which I will do tomorrow.

I couldn't wait, so made a small consist for the C16 and everything worked okay. Some tweaks will be required for OR, but it does what it should.

What does the original coupler section look like? Any internal comments there?

No, here attached is the ENG, there are four versions of the same ENG, one for each C16. All the same except for the shape name, of course.

I am now of the opinion it is better leave out comment statements and put them in a separate text file....mainly for the information of modellers.
