I'm not close to getting anything into Open Rails at the moment, but I was wondering if there were any basic provisions for oil burning locomotives and true articulated engines at the moment? Will there also be provisions for booster engines added at some point as well?

I second this question also. I'm curious too.

For articulated engines, I'm just wondering if there will be support for single-shape engines at some point, where the second engine is itself treated as another truck on the main engine.

As for oil burners, that's in the steam physics we're working on right now. Regarding articulated steamers, our first step is a unified, single physics model. We thought that was the bigger issue - delivering realistic performance. We haven't really considered a single 3D model, but there's nothing preventing it in OR.
