Hmm... I think you need to up the contrast as well as the brightness to avoid the washed-out effect that makes details harder to see. Aside from that, though, looks like an interesting route... which one is it? I wasn't aware of any CGW routes in the Trainsim file library.
Locomotives look pretty nice too- your own creation?

Route is the Second District of the CGW. It is not available anywhere, there is an older version at the Mophouse. The locomotives, or as the CGW called them Motors are my repaints of Makc Nelsons F3's. Paul Fowler has some f3's in CGW paint at his website.

Yep, a little washed out but still a fascinating subject. But then I have a thing for abandoned railroads. :wtf01:
The fall of the Chicago Great Western was the first time I realized that railroads could actually fail and be abandoned. It always amazed me at the time that a modern dieselized railroad serving a major metropolitan area could just give up the ghost. Hardly did I realize that there would be so many fallen flags over the next fifty years or so and that someday we would be down to a handful of corporations driving the class 1's.
How wonderful that the railroad can live on in the sim and the memory of railfans. I wish there were a good CGW route out there. I'd sure add it to my list!
Great looking F's, by the way. Keep posting shots of your CGW please. I look forward to them! :oldstry:

The shots were taken east of Dyersville Iowa. Anyone know what that towns claim to fame is?
The route at the Mophouse is no where near as detailed as this one is. The dems were not as detailed and the route is signaled wrong.
I would be more inclined to upload the route if I could get thru a single activity without 3 pages of notes on things I dont like.

Hi Mike!
I too, like the hot, humid summer morning "heat haze" look in the first shot!
Your route work is looking great, too.

One of the few movies I actually like Costner in. I heard that the two families there closed it down.
