File Name: MSTS NVLW/FFS Rutland Railroad RS1 Pack
File Submitter: vermont204
File Submitted: 26 Dec 2010
File Category: Early Diesels (Pre - 1960)
This package includes all six of the Rutland
Railroad's RS1's all with their own custom
weathering. RS1 #405 still exists today as
Green Mountain Railroad #405 which regularly
runs excursion trains as well as freight, if
necessary. These models have been painted to
replicate how Rutland's RS1's looked at the
height of their service. The original model
is by Allen Norton and Richard A. Percy. The
repaint work is by Max Brisben, and the coupler
and airhoses are by David Rowe. These models
require the BLW/ZT Alco Sound Pack, but you can
re-alias that as you wish and also require
alcorsrc.zip from trainsim.com for the cabview.
See the Readme file for more details.

Very nice to have these Rutland units! Allan's model is lovely and Max did a good job on these.
After the Rutland stopped operating, these units were sold to the Tennessee Railroad, Vermont Railway, Green Mountain Railroad and Norwood & St. Lawrence.

Hi Chris,
The Norwood and St Lawrence never owned any RS-1s or ex-Rutland power for that matter. The original NSL had two GE 70 tonners, the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority had an S-4, when the NSL was abandoned the line and it's rolling stock were "donated" to the OBPA and the OBPA changed it's name to the Norwood and St Lawrence. In 2002 the VRS acquired the NSL.
You can read and see more about the NSL at:

Nice RS-1 Max.
Paul :-)

Thanks for the comments everyone!
The Rutland RS1's were bought new, then went off to other railroads in Vermont, as well as the Tennessee Railroad. the Vermont Railway owned their RS1's for a short period of time before selling them off. the Green Mountain Railroad kept three of them for a while, I think. #405 is the sole remaining Rutland RS1 to be operating, which I plan to model in the very near future. I just need someone to put ditch lights on it. I also have the Vermont Railroad RS1's planned as well.
