Here's a shot of TIR 500 at Gananoque Junction... just sitting around waiting for one of those big CN steamers to bring in a passenger train! Lots of time, still lots of work to be done on the Thousand Islands Railway route.

by lots of work to be done do you mean that there is a route being built? or that the loco has alot of work to do?
and by "one of those big CN steamers" do you mean,

or

Yes, have the tracks, roads, and rivers in place, four out of five bridges, and as of this afternoon, the Gan Jct station. Nice thing about the TIR is that the original station was in a bit of a hollow and when CN bought a controlling interest, the first thing they did was lay 1.3 miles of track and built a new station... so, would be nice to be running along at 20 mph and have a CN freight overtake you with one or two of your nice looking steamers :-)

Paul :-)

I just had to take a closer look at this engine, so downloaded it and the car, too. Very nice, very nice, Paul.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the kind words. Funny to see TIR 500 under wires, it was built in the Oshawa Electric shops by CN using "off the shelf" electric motor and Whitcomb parts, it's first test runs were under wires.

Paul :-)

Yes, TIR 500 is on display just east of the Gananoque River bridge if you are on Highway 2 (King Street). There is a shelter just to the east of the engine that served as an "umbrella station", the regular stop on King Street (if you brought your own umbrella you might stay dry).

You're welcome, Paul. The 500 does look like it needs trolley poles.
