1928: Star of screen and stage, Miss Clara Bow, vacationing in and around London, Ontario, didn't see the approaching streetcar being tested on the London & Port Stanley Ry crossing on Bathurst Street. No one was injured, and Miss Bow cheerfully agreed to pose in front of the two vehicles. She agreed to pay for new paint for the trolley, and signed autographs to all the railroad crews that happened to show up.

Great little scene Tim! That crossing is always catching drivers off guard. I've had cars run into me dozens of times. Nobody get hurt though and if I look the other way, I barely even know there's been an accident.

Now, on the movie theme, and in the true tradition of Norm from Cheers, I'll add some useless L&PS trivia. The silent movie and stage star Annie Pixley retired in Port Stanley and owned a large luxury hotel, called the Frazer House, located at the top of the Inclined Railway. It was used as a getaway for many silent movie stars of the era. To this day Annie has a well maintained mausoleum in one of the London cemetaries. I really wanted to model the hotel on my route, but alas it was dismantled in 1919 and didn't exist in my modelled time period.

You may know your Port Stanley trivia, but the guy on Cheers that sent people running with his exclamation "Don't get me stahhted on....." was the US Postal Services finest, Cliff Clavin...

.... Don't get me stahhted on Cheers trivia....

With Wayne's tale of stars visiting London, something like this becomes even more believable! Great story and nicely done Photo Shop work!

Thanks, guys, it's one of those crazy ideas that pop into the ol' noggin during a late-night spin.

Mykel, that is one crazy pic.
