On one fine Autumn day, I decided to ride a Valley Transit train from Alexville to Priestville. When I arrived at Alexville for the 1:00 PM local to Bridgeport, I was pleasantly surprised to find Pacific Electric 1002, a car bought second hand by Valley Transit.

As 1:00 rolled around, I was the only inhabitant of the car besides the Motorman and Conductor. The Motorman, noticing my camera, asked if I was a railfan. Saying yes, he asked, "Why don't you come ride up here with me." So as the train left Alexville, I was planted in the railfan seat.

A few minutes later were quickly approaching Montaverdi, the first stop on the line. The motorman said were were rolling at about 55 mph.

As we rolled into Montaverdi, I snapped this shot of the Motorman.

When the car left Montaverdi, I was still the only passenger. Visible off to the right in this shot, is the old ROW to Priestville.

After we arrived in Sulfur Springs, I was still the only passenger in the car. The motormen then told me, "Ever run a Train Before?" So I ended up taking the hot seat for the run to Priestville. THis show was taken right before we left.

At Priestville Interurban, there were passengers waiting to board. So I relinquished the controls to the experienced motorman. After that, it was an all too short run to Priestville C Street.

And here is the car at Preistville C, after the run from Alexville.

And leaving Priestville C for Bridgeport.

Zach, thanks for the enjoyable ride on the 'ten-hundred and two' over the VT today. Couldn't wish for a finer seat.
