Hi Guys
This is a new thread for those who are trying out Open Rails. Lets see those screen shots from
our new sim to be. Lets show our support and the hope for the teams continued success.
I've never been able to run Paul Fowlers GM&O Springfield Switch at more than about 5 frames per
second and in some cases a half a frame per second. Would you call that jerky. Well! Tonight I
was able to run it in Open Rails at a minimum of 15 frames per second. Finally I can look around
at all the detail he put into this route. Pretty neat. Good color and detail and the train looks
great.
I hope these guy's will have continued sucess with this simulator. To the team. Hip hip hooray!

I've never seen 88 ever on anything. What are you running, Barry? I may need an upgrade!

The fact of the matter is the fastest anyone can ever see is what the monitor refresh rate is set to (most people use 60/second, some use 72). The software may be cycling faster than that, and telling you it's going faster, but when the software exceeds the monitor refresh rate, you don't actually get to see it. Essentially, you're just observing parts of your machine do useless work. =@ Open Rails does try to limit itself to the monitor so the CPU can do other interesting things besides chasing it's tail. When it reports higher rates, like this, there's something uneven going on... I'll bet Barry was seeing fps from 40 to 80 on a regular cycle. Doesn't happen often tho.

I'm about to add to the consist.....I may relent if/when the sys screams for mercy.
This is all unknown territory, which makes OR experimenting so enjoyable. OR has bought back the good ol' wide eyed days we had with TS. As expected, there are issues this early on, but that sense of adventure is back!

Another update, beta 3.0, you can see the poly total on the locomotive is increasing, the tender no difference, plus the consist added to the total of 151,436 polys. FYI, the FPS was plus/minus the 85 by about 5 frames.
I should remind you the route is somewhat sparse in scenery objects.
