Car Spawner 1940 White WH-4 Fuel Semi Set Version 1.1
MSTS Scenery Object
August 19th, 2009
Original model by Frank Musick and Tim Muir
Original textures by Niko Moritz, used by permission and modified by Frank Musick and Tim Muir

Fixes a naming error that prevents the two different versions (car spawner vs Static) from being used in the same route.

These are the first models I have ever produced specifically for use with the MSTS car spawner. Unlike their more static counterparts these models combine the tractor and trailer into one unit. I am not familiar with the car spawner, but I'm pretty sure it would be difficult, if not impossible, to get the tractor and trailer to move together as they should. Trailers do not usually cruise the highways by themselves.

Although the textures used are the same ones used for the "seperate" version, I have included them here for the benefit of those who have not downloaded that model set.

These models are the part of a series of low-poly alternatives to my previous series of MSTS truck models The poly count on the complete tractor-trailer combination is about a third of the previous White WA14 tractor, somewhere around 2300. The count on the previous semi-rig combo was over 8000!

There are three models in this set, all of them fuel rigs. The rigs are short. There was no Interstate Highway system when these trucks existed, only two lane blacktop. The monster 18 wheelers we dodge on the interstates were decades in the future.

I tried to use logos and artwork that companies used in the 1940's. The Gulf emblem is one I remember seeing when I was a kid, back when gas stations gave out road maps for free and could even service your car. Continental is more familiar these days as Conoco and green has replaced the Continental Army colors. The Gilmore Oil Company and it's trademark red lion vanished decades ago.

I did not create any of the textures. That credit must go to Niko Moritz, a first class illustrator and modeler. He was kind enough to grant his permission for the use of his artistry to texture this model. Tim Muir, an artist in his own rite, is responsible for most of the modifications. He was able to morph Niko's work into many of the combinations that texture the trucks in this series. He also suggested or furnished important details for the models in what has come to be known as the "Moritz" model series. I did a few of the repaints and that "sunset" window tint.
