Caboose 0503 was rebuilt from am old junker in 1923 by the D&RGW. This type of rebuild usually consisted of "salvaging a few metal parts, jacking up the serial number, and building a new car under it". 0503 is most distinguishable by it's boarded up rear body side windows, individual cupola side window awnings, rain gutters above the side steps, and it's slanted side steps. Today 0503 is owned by the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad, and at the time of this writing is undergoing an extensive rebuilding by the Friends of the Cumbres and Toltec.

This model of 0503 was made from plans by Ken Pruitt and is configured as it was in 1954, as shown on P-23 of the "Narrow Gauge Pictorial, Vol V". Most historical data is from "A Century + Ten of D&RGW Narrow Gauge Freight Cars,1871 to 1981" by Robert E Sloan.

To install make a new folder under your Trainset folder and copy the seven files to this folder.

This model's initial testing, physics adjustments, and texture tweaking was done by Howard Saunders. Further testing was done by Herb Kelsey and Tom Werb, and final Beta testing was done by Tim Muir.
