DL&W wood coal jimmies Version 1.1 August 31st, 2022
Frank Musick
General Glitch Fix.
WARNING: OpenRails ONLY!!! Pretty sure it won't work in MSTS.
OpenRails model of the hoppers used by the anthracite (and other) roads. The cars were built from photos and whatever dimensionns I could find. I believe that most, if not all of the 6 ton cars were built by the Harrisburg Car Co, Harrisburg PA. The larger cars all appear to be built in various railroad shops. I have included 6 ton, well used cars and 10 and 15 ton cars new and in various stage of wear. I show them as stained or weathered wood, though the Harrisburgh catalog suggests the cars they built were black or some other color. There are loaded and unloaded cars.
Physics is a guess pulled from some file from another car years ago for my very first attempt at modeling a coal jim (or anything else). The performance parameters are beyond my skillset and probably need revision.
These models are high poly and may cause framerate issues. I haven't had any issues, as long as I remember to shut down all the other apps I use to create these things. If there is an issue the model has 3 levels of detail. I suppose one could use some utility to eliminate the first LOD and use the second. It has no rivets, but may also be missing parts you might rather appear in the sim.
Installation Procedure:
Unzip DL&WJimmies into the OpenRails Trains\Trainset directory. I have included two consist files, one for a loaded train, the other for empties. You will need to download DL&W Carbon, DL&W Lehigh and DL&W 4 Wheel Caboose to use them. The loaded train requires two locomotives. DL&W Carbon and DL&W Lehigh are both required to move the train. The empty train requires only DL&W Carbon.
This content may be redistributed for non-commercial purposes only. The assets (including all library, musical, cinematographic and artistic works found in the sound, music, video and data files) contained in this archive remain the property of the original authors.
I thinks that's about it.
