The Economic Gold Extraction Company Mill Staff House
Squaw Hill, Colorado
1909
This is a small Staff Housing facility located by the tunnel entrance at the top of the Economic Mill complex.
Largest mill in the United States at its time of construction it used a chloride extraction method for extracting gold from the ore. It served the gold fields until a disasterous fire destroyed it. Nothing remains today.
Ore was delivered by the Short Line at the upper level and distributed to the Mill by tramways and electric engines, there was a lower entrance for horse drawn ore deliveries. The overall height from the bottom to the top of the mill as 140 feet and the main chimeney was 60 feet high.
This model is based on historic photos and careful research carried out by me for many months. Some of the textures were sourced from research by Linda Irene Tingvik with her kind permission, others are from historic Colorado Structures from the period.
This model includes night and snow textures. It is medium poly so can be used for both MSTS and Open Rails.
It contains a simplified version of the Upper Railroad delivery tunnel and Tramway system. The actual system of the tramways contained a circular delivery interchange of 2 levels and spirals for an electric tram engine and car system.
Rights and Restrictions: you may freely use, rework and repaint this model, TSM source files is included. The only restriction is that this model may not be sold or used in commercial pay ware without my express permission. You can reach me at the e mail below. It may also be converted to Railworks, Trainz or any other sim format I would appreciate notice and a copy of your finished work.
Installation:
Place the shape and texture files into your route folders and add the ref entry to your ref list. I use the 257 texture setting so that this will correctly display both snow and night textures.
