US CIVIL WAR CAMPAIGN TENT
For MSTS Routes from 1860s and beyond
Field tent sometimes called a wall tent, as used by both Union and Confederate armies in the US Civil War between 1860 and 1865. These useful tents were found by the thousands on the battlefields and in the camps of both sides. They were large and portable and quite weather resistant, usually made from bleached canvas, they were erected on poles and secured by stakes and shorter poles formed side supports. They had large flaps that could be opened at either end for ventilation. They were transported on Quartermaster Corps wagons and erected by the Suttlers and camp hands, usually located based on senority with an eye to access to water and healthy location.
This model is very low poly and suitable for distance or close up viewing there are two versions, one wth flaps closed and one with flaps open.
Installation: Place shape and texture files into the correct folders of the route you wish to add this scenery item to, and enter the REF entry into the REF list for that route. This will make this item appear in the Route Editor and allow you to add it to that route.
Credits: I created the textures from actual historic photographs from the Civil war and from sources about its history. The dimensions of the original tents were 12x11x7. Help and advice was kindly given by Larry_M, John Fleming and Tim Muir, and other members of the TS community who so kindly help all who are on the learning curve with TSM. This shape was created in Train Sim Modeller.
No commercial use may be made of this model, no liability is assumed or accepted.
You may retexture or repaint to your hearts desire. Credit is always appreciated but not required.
You can find me at Elvas tower or at chrisgerlach9@yahoo.com
Enjoy, and be sure to clear up your campsite when done.
