Help Topic: Download Restrictions

We use a tiered system to govern member's download activity. Permissions and restrictions are directly linked to active participation in the forums.

There are basically 4 levels of general membership that have different download permissions assigned.

They are broken down in this manner.

Every member begins as a New Hire at Elvas Tower. New Hires have no posts in the forums. After writing 1 post, New Hires are limited to downloading 15 megs of files a week and 45 megs per month.



Once a New Hire has made 3 valid posts in the forums they will be advanced to the Switchman group. This advancement may not happen immediately and may take some time to take effect. Once assigned to the Switchman group, the weekly download limit is raised to 50 megs a week and 150 megs per month.



Once a Switchman has made 20 valid posts in the forums they will be advanced to the Dispatcher group. Again, this may not happen immediately. As a Dispatcher, the weekly download limit is raised to 150 megs a week and 450 megs per month.



When a Dispatcher has made 50 valid posts in the forums they will be advanced to an Active Member group and all download restrictions are lifted.

Note that if you attempt to download any file that is larger than your weekly limitation
You will receive an error message that you have exceeded your quota.
BEWARE
Single word posts or any post deemed not to contribute anything to the forums by the Administrative Staff will not be tolerated and can result in a member's permanent ban from the system.
