The steam locomotive is truly one of the most majestic and visually recognized icons of railroading. While a handful of them are preserved and running today, none will ever be likely to operate in mainline freight/passenger operations ever again. Thankfully, we have MSTS to simulate an earlier time when mainline steam operation was standard. And so, here is a variety of screenshots depicting steam locomotives in action. Enjoy and feel free to post your own shots too!

Thanks Richard! The #98 was made by Michael Knott, wwfized.zip in the Train Sim.com library. ;)

That particular Ps-4 was done by Train-Artisan quite some time ago. I believe, though I could be wrong, that this engine was part of their "members" collection for people who purchased some of their products. It is actually a USRA 4-6-2 light in which they did a B&O and some other versions and released in a pack. Unfortunately Train-Artisan rode off into the sunset a long time ago.

Here are a few, all shown on Andre Ming's routes..the St. L & N.A., and the Ozark Northern..both probably some of the greatest work in MSTS! If you want to run steam..then contact Andre, and get your wallet out..you will not be disappointed! Hope you enjoy!

Best Rgards,

A rather smallish critter. But those were needed as well. :buffalobill:
